Obituary for Ingewardiati Jusuf

April 3, 1943 – August 26, 2020

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Ingewardiati Jusuf (Lie Liyen Ing), at home with her family by her side, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus in the early morning of Wednesday, August 26th, 2020. She is finally at rest, having fought a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Inge will be remembered with great love by her husband of 51 years, Iwan Suwandi; her children: Ingrid (husband: Peng Yee), Simon, and Karen (husband: Paul); her grandchildren: Matthew, Isabella, Kiana and Joshua; her siblings: Hans (wife: Lili), Christine (husband: Tjoen), Dinand (wife: Yuli); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and their children.

She has made and kept in touch with many wonderful friends throughout her life, who will one day rejoice with her once again in our eternal home.

Inge was born in Cikampek, Indonesia - the eldest of four children - to Eliazar and Mariani Jusuf. She was a bright and responsible child - caring for her younger siblings while excelling in school.

After earning a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Inge worked for Putera Paper Products in Jakarta for almost a decade before the family moved to Singapore in 1981. For several years, she stayed home to care for her children before returning to work as a Chemistry Instructor at Sekolah Indonesia Singapura. In 1989, the family moved to Canada, settling in Surrey, British Columbia. Soon after moving, Inge started her own company, Royal City Business Services, where she enjoyed meeting and serving clients until her retirement in 2003.

Inge has always been active in her church community wherever the family set down roots. Her last community was Gereja Injil Indonesia in Vancouver, where she worshipped, enjoyed fellowship, and participated with joy in the choir, senior’s group and prayer ministry, even during her last months.

She will always be remembered by family and friends for her vibrant smile and energy, her commitment to and love for God and others, her strong character, and rich prayer life.

Due to circumstances with COVID, a small family-only memorial service will be held the evening of Friday, September 4, 2020. You may contact Inge’s family for a zoom link if you would like to participate.
